Queston: I record some home videos using my HD cameras and have transferred the files to my computer running Windows Vista. I found the video files are .m2ts extension. I would like to edit M2ts videos, convert to MP4 format and put edited movies on my iPod. How to do this? --- Amy Webster
M2ts files are raw AVCHD high definition videos recorded using Sony, Panasonic, Canon, JVC and other brands of AVCHD camcorders. Currently, m2ts files can be played using the Picture Motion Browser, Cyberlink PowerDVD or other application video players provided with camcorders' vendors.
Because M2ts files are raw AVCHD videos, the main disadvantages are large-size and they can't be played on the common players such as DVD, Apple TV, Zune, iPod, PSP, PS3, iPhone and other video players. Using our M2ts video editor, you can easily edit AVCHD m2ts files and convert M2ts to any format you like.
How to edit M2ts video using professional M2ts editing software?
2. Install and launch. A new empty project will be created automatically. Load your M2ts videos by hitting the 'Import' button. The selected M2ts video files will be added into the Video category.
Tips: You can also press 'Import' button to add photos, music. You can not only make photo slide shows, but also create movies using multiple video clips and pictures.
3. Add M2ts videos or pictures to the timeline area, and edit M2ts files
To apply various effects to your M2ts videos, you should place it to the time-line area, first of all. So, select your video in the file area, and do not release the left mouse button, drag it to the very first row of the time-line area and only after that release the button to drop the video there.
Now all the preliminary actions are done and you can proceed to add transitions, apply different effects, insert audio, lay text and other videos over the main ones, dub episodes and create DVD with menus, or save as any video format you like.
The M2ts editor is very simple to use. Let's take adding text effects for example. The Text effect is used to add different captions - static and animated - to your movie. First you will need to select a text preset and add it to the timeline. After that you will be able to edit text and change its properties. Then you can preview the video using the Preview Area to make sure that the text effect looks the way you want it to. You can apply not one but several text effects. If you want to disable any effect, check the respective window off clicking the Eye button icon (it will turn into an Eye button icon then). To enable the effect click this icon once again.
4. M2ts converter saves the project to any format you need
