Queston: I own a Sony HDR camcorder and it records Hd videos with AVCHD format. I want to edit AVCHD video clips, delete unwanted ones, and create a DVD playable on my regular DVD player. Could you please tell me which AVCHD editor is the best one? Thank you for any help. --- Wilber Dean
2. Install and launch. A new empty project will be created automatically. Load your AVCHD videos by hitting the 'Import' button. The selected AVCHD video files (m2ts, mts) will be added into the Video category.
Tips: You can also press 'Import' button to add photos, music. You can not only make photo slide shows, but also create movies using multiple video clips and pictures.
3. Add AVCHD videos or pictures to the timeline area, and edit AVCHD movies
To apply various effects to your AVCHD videos, you should place it to the time-line area, first of all. So, select your video in the file area, and do not release the left mouse button, drag it to the very first row of the time-line area and only after that release the button to drop the video there.
Now all the preliminary actions are done and you can proceed to add transitions, apply different effects, insert audio, lay text and other videos over the main ones, dub episodes and create DVD with menus, or save as any video format you like.
The AVCHD video editing software is very simple to use. Let's take adding transitions for example. Select the transition you would like to add to the video of yours, and click it with the left mouse button. Then, without releasing the button, drag the selected transition to the rectangle between the video clips and drop it there.
4. Convert the edited content to the format you need
Select the output format you like, and save the project to video formats or DVD. The AVC HD editor supports creating AVI (DivX, Xvid), MP4 (Sony PSP, iPod and Archos), WMV, 3GP, 3G2, QuickTime (MOV, QT), DVD, MPEG-1, 2, 4, MPG, H.264, Real Video (RM, RMVB), etc.
What is AVCHD?
AVCHD is a high-definition and standard-definition recording format for use in digital tapeless camcorders. The format is comparable to other handheld video camera recording formats, particularly HDV and TOD. AVCHD (AVC-HD, AVC HD) video is recorded using the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression codec. Audio is stored in compressed form (Dolby AC-3). The camcorders which use AVCHD as the recording format include Sony, JVC, Panasonic, Canon, etc.
